The Benefit of Mentorship for Scholars
The goal of the Reverend Tony Akinyemi Scholarship Foundation is to provide support to brilliant children and youths who face the challenge of furthering their education because they are financially disadvantaged. Our support to these ones do not start and end with financial contribution to their education. We also provide additional support and guidance to our scholarship recipients through mentorship programs in order to leave a long-lasting impact in their lives. Our scholars enjoy the following benefits:
- Academic Support: Our mentors provide academic support to rTSF scholars by offering guidance in choosing the right courses, studying techniques, and improving academic performance. They also guide them in navigating challenges, providing study resources, and offer advice on time management and goal setting
- Personal Growth: Our mentorship programs provide rTSF scholars with guidance, support, and valuable insights from experienced mentors. Through regular interactions and discussions, they develop self-confidence, enhance their self-awareness, and gain a clearer sense of their strengths, weaknesses, and aspirations.
- Emotional Support: Some scholars face various challenges during their academic journey, including stress, feelings of self-doubt, and negative pressure. Mentors provide a valuable support system and offer a listening ear, encouragement, and motivation which help our scholars to develop resilience and coping strategies to navigate personal and emotional challenges.
- Networking Opportunities: Our mentorship programs facilitate networking opportunities. We have a network of professionals which consist of friends and supporters of the foundation who can connect students with potential internships, job opportunities, or industry experts. Building these networks can open doors to new opportunities, collaborations, and potential career advancement.
- Long-term Success: Our mentorship programs increase the chances of long-term success for our scholars. Our mentors provide guidance on setting career goals, making informed decisions, and overcoming obstacles. They also offer insights into the industry or field of study and share their own experiences and lessons learned.
In the long run, our mentorship programs help foster a sense of community and belonging among our scholars. This is because we often encourage mentees to become mentors themselves in the future. By experiencing the positive impact of mentorship, our scholars (and alumni) are inspired to give back and support others in their journeys. This creates a cycle of knowledge sharing, guidance, and support that can have a long-lasting impact on multiple generations of individuals.
rTSF is open to receive volunteer mentors and partners who are interested in supporting our mentorship programs. Our aim is to amplify our influence in the lives of our scholars, as well as in our society and the global community as a whole.
